I met with a friend today. Her family went through a terrible loss recently. She had called me and wanted to come into my office and talk about it. There was no way I was saying no. This is why I do what I do, so many people I know, friends, associates can come in and talk. But today wasn't easy. It wasn't easy because she told me about her loss. She told me all of the terrible things that had happened and how devastated she was. I just listened. Sometimes as a lawyer that is all you need to do. Questions can wait. I just listened as she as she spoke, took some notes, but made sure that I listened. As she was telling me her heartbreak, she asked if I could help in anyway, to keep this from happening to someone else, to prevent this tragedy from happening again. ABSOLUTELY! We talked about all the different options that she had, how not only can we do something to stop this from happening to someone else, but how we can also get her compensated for her loss. She didn't come in wanting to know how much money she was going to get, or how long it was going to take, she came in to talk to a friend about her loss. I'm happy I am her friend, today I'm even happier I am her lawyer, because now I can not only help my friend, but who knows how many other people WE will help by putting a stop to the practices that caused her loss.
